You’ve gotten your dream tattoo, what’s next? The after care and healing process is an important part of the full tattoo process. Follow our aftercare recommendations to keep your tattoo as vibrant as possible.

Looking After Your New Tattoo

  • Leave the Clingfilm on for the first day and night of the tattoo, refreshing the clingfilm before bed.

  • Wash your hands well then remove the Clingfilm.

  • Allow the tattoo to dry naturally in the air (for roughly 30 minutes to 1 hour), or pat it dry with a fresh, clean towel – do not wipe or rub it dry.

  • Apply a very light film of ointment (bepanthen cream or recommended ointment), rub it into the skin completely and pat away any excess remaining on the surface of the skin.

  • Hot wash the tattoo 2 or 3 times daily for between 7-10 days. (Always ensure that your hands are freshly washed when cleaning the tattoo)

  • After the first 7-14 days (depending on your healing rate and when the tattoo stops flaking), you should stop using the ointment and switch to your preferred body moisturizer. If in direct sunlight be sure to use a high SPF.

  • Saniderm / Second Skin Bandage:

If your tattoo is bandaged with Saniderm (Second Skin), you should keep the bandage on for 3-4 days. During this time, it is normal to see some fluid build up beneath the bandage.

Once you remove the saniderm from your tattoo, make sure to gently wash it with unscented antibacterial soap and pat or air dry. Apply a very thin layer of suggested aftercare ointment 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks, until the tattoo is fully healed (no more peeling, dry, or cracked skin).
